Dear ECCO stakeholders,

This month we have exciting news to share with you.

Following a rigorous selection process, ECCO has been invited to participate in the EU Expert Group on Cancer Control.  As the unified voice of European cancer professionals’ societies and organisations on common policy issues, ECCO sees this initiative as an important opportunity to represent the voice of oncology professionals at EU policy level.  The Group’s objective is to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and information as well as experience, policies and practices in order to optimise cancer control efforts.

ECCO has taken its first important step as a member of this Group at its first meeting on 23 and 24 September in Milan.  Our representative in the Group is Alberto Costa - ECCO Board Member and a strong proponent of multidisciplinarity.

We have opened registration for the European Cancer Congress (ECC2015) which will take place in Vienna, on 25 – 29 September 2015.

The Congress is our primary platform for making our multidisciplinary vision a reality.  We achieve this through leadership in groundbreaking scientific data and excellence in clinical practice.  Our unique Oncopolicy and Patient Advocacy tracks provide the essential multistakeholder dialogue we need to take concrete steps towards improved outcomes and better quality of life for people with cancer.

I invite you to visit the European Cancer Congress 2015 (ECC2015) webpage and read our Preliminary Announcement.

Over the coming months, we will be adding regular updates on the Congress preparations, giving you more and more reasons to ensure your participation.

I encourage you to start planning the part you will play in this foremost European platform for global dissemination of cutting-edge scientific and clinical data!

Martine Piccart, ECCO President
