Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL)

The Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) is a federation of 29 national and regional Cancer Leagues, in 21 countries.

ECL provides a forum of exchange for information and best practices, and connects the work and interests of cancer leagues in Europe.

Since 1980, ECL has been improving communication; enhancing and coordinating collaboration; and fostering fruitful activities between European cancer leagues and organisations to reduce the growing cancer burden in Europe.

What we do:

  • Tobacco control: advising and influencing EU decision makers for tobacco control legislation
  • Facilitate the exchange of information and best practices among cancer leagues professionals
  • Propose European guidelines
  • Consider and recommend policy positions in various cancer related fields

To achieve its missions, ECL organises, manages and develops:

  • Workshops
  • Technical meetings
  • Joint activities with organisations having similar aims
  • Relationships with relevant international organisations, e.g. EC, UICC, WHO, EPHA, EHN, OECI, ENSP, ENYPAT, ECCO, EORTC 2008 ECL
