Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL)

The Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) is a federation of 29 national and regional Cancer Leagues, in 21 countries.

ECL provides a forum of exchange for information and best practices, and connects the work and interests of cancer leagues in Europe.

Since 1980, ECL has been improving communication; enhancing and coordinating collaboration; and fostering fruitful activities between European cancer leagues and organisations to reduce the growing cancer burden in Europe.

What we do:

Information and Prevention Campaigns
Advocacy & monitoring at the EU level
Tobacco control: advising and influencing EU decision makers for tobacco control legislation
Facilitate the exchange of information and best practices among cancer leagues professionals
Propose European guidelines
Consider and recommend policy positions in various cancer related fields

To achieve its missions, ECL organises, manages and develops:

Workshops
Technical meetings
Joint activities with organisations having similar aims
Relationships with relevant international organisations, e.g. EC, UICC, WHO, EPHA, EHN, OECI, ENSP, ENYPAT, ECCO, EORTC 2008 ECL

Highlights:

The 2010 ECL Annual Conference and General Assembly will be hosted by the Portuguese Cancer League from 27 to 30 October 2010.
