The European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO) is a European Society with individual members from more than 90 different countries, involved in the fields of radiotherapy and oncology.
Created in 1980, the Society has now close to 7000 members and represents the vast majority of European professionals involved in radiation oncology. 20% of its members come from overseas.
The Society aims at improving standards of cancer treatment: by encouraging intra-and interdisciplinary co-operation, fostering the exchange of knowledge and expertise, transferring technology and promoting the mobility of professionals, organising scientific meetings, workshops and teaching courses for basic and continued education, providing guidance at the European level for best practice, education and quality assurance, stimulating/coordinating research and providing QA services for RT departments and Clinical Studies.
To cover the growing demand of harmonised training and continued medical education in Europe, ESTRO offers a modular curriculum of basic, advanced and multidisciplinary teaching courses.
To promote the international exchange of scientific information on radiotherapy & oncology and related fields of science, ESTRO organises International meetings with a very strong scientific programme, informative manufacturer’s exhibition and attractive social events.
The combination of teaching courses and international meetings offers an overview of the state-of-the art modern radiotherapy and a platform of networking opportunities.
