Europa Uomo was legally established in Milan in June 2004 as an independent, non profit association whose members are affiliated groups. Europa Uomo is the European advocacy movement for the fight against prostate cancer. Europa Uomo represents and supports patient groups focused on prostate diseases in general and prostate cancer in particular.
Our aims include increasing awareness on prostate diseases, support individualised treatment based on optimal medical treatment with personalized patient care and help reduce overtreatment of prostate cancer.
At present Europa Uomo is represented in 19 countries of the European Union.
Our coalition is based on 3 rules:

Keep patients' advocacy a priority with focus on quality of life based on solidarity and mutual respect.

Provide information to educate men based on objective, evidence based holistic patient-centered care.

Collaborate with professional organisations to support optimal medical treatment.
Manifesto
Full membership requires legal status as an association, active in the field of supporting prostate cancer patients/survivors and bound to its Manifesto of ten points:

To find ways and means to promote quality of life for prostate cancer patients and their families;

To promote the dissemination and exchange of evidence-based as well as factual and up to date information on prostate cancer;

To promote prostate awareness and appropriate diagnosis and prognosis;

To emphasise the need for appropriate early detection;

To campaign for provision of and access to optimum treatment;

To ensure quality, supportive care throughout and after treatment;

To promote multi-professional quality care and appropriate medical infrastructure;

To acknowledge good clinical practice and promote its development;
-
To ensure that all men fully understand any proposed treatment options, including entry into clinical trials and their right to a second opinion;

To promote the advancement of prostate cancer research.
Structure
An Executive Committee, a Steering Committee under a constitutional General Assembly that meets annually.
Special committees include a Prostate Passport Committee, a Website Committee, a Membership Committee and a Strategic Committee.
