Wolfgang Wick, MD, is the Chairman of the Department of Neuro-Oncology, Hertie Professor of Neuro-Oncology and Director at the National Tumor Center at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He received training in Neurology at the University of Tübingen Medical School’s Department of Neurology in Tübingen, Germany, then at medical schools in Bonn (Germany), London (UK), and Boston, Massachusetts (USA).
Professor Wick is conducting multicenter phase-III randomized trials for the Neuro-Oncology Working Group (NOA) of the German Cancer Society, the EORTC as well as a number of multicenter trials with the pharmaceutical industry. He is a steering committee member of the NOA and the European Association for Neurooncology as well as chairman of the EORTC Brain Tumor Group. His main scientific interests include migration and invasion of glioma cells, gene therapy, death ligands and stem cells. Professor Wick has written more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals, such as Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer Research, Nature Medicine, Neurology, Neuro-Oncology, Annals of Neurology and Journal of Clinical Investigation.
