General assembly
The General Assembly is the highest governing body of ECCO and consists of a representative of each Founding Member Society and Full Member Society.
The General Assembly meets once a year. Every second year, the meeting of the General Assembly coincides with the European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress.
Council
The ECCO Organisation is advised by a Council consisting of representatives of all voting Member societies supplemented by representatives from other European and international organisations with interests and objectives consistent with the mission of ECCO (Advisory Members).
The Council meets formally once a year, serving as a General Assembly with advisory function.
Board of Directors
ECCO is governed by a Board of Directors composed of one representative from each Founding Member Society as well as up to a maximum of 7 individuals elected by the General Assembly from all the Member Societies.
The posts of President-Elect and Treasurer are elected from amongst the members of the Board of Directors. Term of office for Board officers is two calendar years starting on the first of January following the European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress.
The Board of Directors meets 3 to 4 times a year. The ECCO CEO attends meetings of the Board of Directors as ex-officio member.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is composed of the President, President-elect and Treasurer as well as any other Board members appointed for this purpose by the Board of Directors.
The Chief Executive Officer is an ex officio, non-voting, member of the Executive Committee. Term of office for Executive Committee officers is two calendar years.
