ECCO Education Programme

Current initiatives span a variety of educational formats including courses, fellowships and e-learning with the goal of providing our community with further opportunity for professional growth and training at various career stages.

New proposed projects must fulfill a number of criteria including the necessary  European focus and scope as well as adding value to ECCO’s current educational portfolio and that of its member organisations. For further information surrounding the submission of new projects, please click here.

Chaired by Dirk Schrijvers (Antwerp, Belgium), the ECCO Education Programme offers educational initiatives of multidisciplinary appeal which have been especially tailored to meet the scientific, educational and professional needs of oncology specialists.

Flims workshop

The ECCO-AACR-EORTC-ESMO Workshop on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research, or the ‘Flims Workshop’ in short, is an educational programme that introduces junior clinical oncologists in any oncology subspecialty to the principles of good clinical trial design.

Since 1999, this annual workshop has been held in the last full week of June, hosted by the small town of Flims in Switzerland. The organisers pursue the ultimate goal of developing a cadre of well-trained, experienced researchers whose expertise will foster better clinical trial designs and thereby hasten the introduction of improved regimens for cancer therapy and prevention into everyday medical practice and patient care.
