The sun shone brilliantly in Dubrovnik during our first annual Oncologic Imaging Course (OIC 2011), and the Adriatic never looked bluer. The lectures covered a wide range of pertinent topics, emphasizing practical issues in oncologic image interpretation. Audience members actively engaged in question-and-answer sessions with the faculty, showing how necessary such a course is for modern radiologic practice. The social events were enjoyed by all, in a setting that is virtually unparalleled anywhere. What a spectacular and auspicious beginning for this new course!
Planning has already begun for OIC 2012. Comments and suggestions from the attendees are being discussed and incorporated into next year’s program, to make the experience even better. The organizing committee is working hard to achieve a harmonious balance of topics essential to the daily practice of oncologic imaging. Continuous improvement of radiologists’ competence in interpreting oncologic studies is the key goal of our course. The lectures will emphasize practical points of image interpretation and reporting. Of note, lectures next year will be interactive, using an audience response system - a technique that has been shown to increase audience engagement and retention of knowledge.
