Findings shows that women over the age of 70 are most likely to be diagnosed with the disease but are also the least well informed about its dangers.

Chief executive of Breast Cancer Campaign, Baroness Delyth Morgan said: "It is extremely worrying that although age is the biggest risk factor when it comes to developing breast cancer, less than 2% of women are aware that women over 70 are most at risk." The majority of surveyed women mistakenly believed that the age group 40 – 59 were the most at risk of contracting the disease.

The study suggests that the age group most at risk is less likely to use their entitlement to routine breast screening than any other demographic and could be ignoring vital cancer warning signs. Reasons include having no family history of breast cancer, believing they were unlikely to get the disease at a certain age, and having transport difficulties.
NEWS: Publish your oncology event or job at the ECCO site

Got an oncology event, activity or job that you need to promote?
