ONCOPOLICY FORUM 2011  -  Theme: Health Inequalities

26-27 September 2011, Stockholm, Sweden

In the prevailing economic and social climate there are indications that the major inequalities in healthcare between and within European countries may be widening. This year’s Oncopolicy Forum, part of the European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress, consequently aimed at strategically identifying innovative and action-oriented solutions to address inequalities in the field of oncology.

Taking place on 26 and 27 September 2011 in Stockholm, Sweden, ECCO’s annual Oncopolicy Forum for debate and networking harnessed the expertise and experience of the entire oncopolicy community to bridge the gap between science and policy, maximising the potential for achieving real change through consensus.

Identifying strategies to tackle the issue of inequalities across Europe was one of the key ‘take-home messages’ from 2010’s successful Oncopolicy Forum in Brussels, Belgium. Thus in Stockholm, during the largest congress of its kind in Europe, socioeconomic disparities in cancer incidence and mortality, the cost of cancer care, equitable and affordable access to treatment, care, research and medication, as well as the added-value of European co-operation were debated by key opinion-leaders from the entire cancer continuum and evidence-based recommendations made.

The Oncopolicy Forum 2011 consisted of the following session topics:

Monday, 26 September 2011

Tuesday, 27 September 2011
