Arturo Chiti graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan in 1989, and in the same year he entered the Specialization School in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Milan, where he graduated in 1993.
At the beginning of 1993 he started working as Associate Chief at the National Cancer Institute in Milan, where began his clinic and scientific experience in Oncology. In 1997, he got the European Board of Nuclear Medicine fellowship.
In June 2000 he was called to lead the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Milan, at the time a brand new Hospital. Since than many clinical and scientific activities were developed and now it is one of the leader nuclear medicine departments in Italy.
On March 1, 2015 he was appointed Full Professor in Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy at the Humanitas University in Milan.
In 2004 he was invited to become member of the EANM Oncology Committee, appointed as Chairman in 2007. In 2010 he was elected EANM Task Group and Committee Coordinator for the years 2011-12 and in 2012 he became President Elect 2013-14, and than President 2015-16.
Since many years he is active in the European scientific community and he is an expert consultant for IAEA.
He is co-author several papers on peer reviewed scientific journals (PubMed), chapters of books and contributed to many abstracts presented at international and national meetings.
He is a well-known invited speaker at several international and conferences. He was awarded the honorary membership of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology; the Tom Miller Memorial Lecture Award from the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and the Hevesy Gyorgy award from the Hungarian Society of Nuclear Medicine.
