The meeting on 10 July 2019, hosted by the European CanCer Organisation (ECCO) and HPV Action UK with the support of Incisive Health and made possible via educational grants from MSD and BD, sought to build on the initial discussions from a previous roundtable chaired by the European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC) which took place in December 2017.
The roundtable brought together principal stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, patient advocacy organisations, national cancer societies and individual experts. Four ECCO Members Societies participated in the discussion: European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS), European Society of Oncology Pharmacy (ESOP) and International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS).
The key objectives of the roundtable were to:
- Review the status of actions against HPV in Europe
- Consider ways of improving cooperation between stakeholders towards shared goals
- Discuss potential resolutions on HPV elimination that might be taken to ECCO 2019 European Cancer Summit on 12-14 September 2019
Participants jointly discussed and revised the proposed ECCO 2019 European Cancer Summit resolution, agreeing upon the need for them to be ambitious yet realistically achievable. Call for
Consultation will be online in mid-August 2019. The resolutions will be voted upon at the ECCO 2019 European Cancer Summit in September.
